New to the world of the Bedford CF

Hello,

My name is Rick and I'm very pleased to have just brought 'Beddie' a 1981 Bedford CF motorhome from a charming lady known as Margrae on this forum.

I'm completely new to the world of the Bedford CF so please forgive the series of dumb questions that I will undoubtedly be asking over the coming weeks and months.

Beddie is currently sitting outside my house being prepared for a shake down cruise to the Isle of Skye starting later this week. The party on this first trip will comprise me, Sam (a Basset Hound), Bertie (a Basset Hound) and Issy (a Basset Hound). I expect to be doing most of the driving.

Warmest regards,

Rick

Welcome to the madhouse slow lane.

Ask away; there's no shame in being new to CFs - we've all been there at one time.

Welcome to the site, now just sit on the chair and say,"my names Rick and I'm a Bedford owner" and let the recovery begin.
Seriously though you couldn't have come to a better place to help keep your van on the road.
Cheers,Derek & Lyn.

Welcome rick.

You have probably bought one of the best put together van's there is.

If you search through the various threads on here you'll find a huge blog on your vans rebuild, so hopefully give you piece of mind driving.

Welcome.

Hi rick,

You have bought a very good van, I have watched it being reborn, have you not got a Bertie Basset who can drive, it would leave you free to drink.

Doug.

Hello Rick,
Congratulations on buying this van. Had I not bought my new one a year before I would have ripped Margaret's arm off for this one. I hope you enjoy your trip to Skye, it's a fantastic part of the world; you might have to plan your petrol stops though.

Hi Rick

A very warm welcome to the lunatic asylum, beddie couln't have wished for a better new owner. Check out the general chat thread as I put in our encounter in the isle of Skye.....took us over 7hrs to get back home as the weather was terrible.
My poor dogs were very cramped in the Toyota, as we couldn't erect the awning as it was blowing a gale. Safe journey back home.

PS I bought a new rear light cluster, don't know where I put them but if I find them I will send to you.

Hi and welcome to the site. You should think yourself lucky that I've been working away a lot recently and not spending much time on here. If I had been on here I would have known it was for sale and I would be driving that CF now

Lucky Me

Thanks for the warm welcome everybody. Having read the thread describing Beddie's extensive restoration by Phil I feel very, very lucky indeed that she's come my way.

We're on Skye now, the drive up here from North Yorkshire having gone very well. Beddie cruises nicely at about 30-35 mph which is a whole new and very pleasant way of getting around the country. We reprogrammed the satnav to avoid motorways shortly after it dumped us on the M6 - learning all the time.

The Kinloch campsite where we're staying is brilliant. The owner is an ex-Bedford owner who mentioned that the oily fingerprints on the back door (due to my amateur topping up of Beddie's engine oil) brought back happy memories.

Thanks again for welcoming us to the club. More tales of Beddie and Bassets to follow....

BassetMobile

Hello,

As suggested I'm including a picture of Beddie and the hounds on Skye.

Sammy (the big one in the middle) is obviously pack leader. Bertie on the right and Issy on the left are looking at a sheep which is out of shot.

Cheers,

Rick
