Engine cover screws? Ok, another silly question here. Was cleaning up my engine cover today and noticed a couple of the screw things that hold it down were broken. Was having a hunt about on line but can't seem to find any, mainly because I don't know the proper term for them. Have seen them for sale at autojumbles but wasn't sure what size I needed. Can anyone just tell me what they are called and what size I need. Thanks Ally. ---------------------- | Thu 05 Apr 2012 @ 18:33 |

I'd just sussed out they were called quarter turn studs or fasteners.Nice to know they have a brand name.On a similar note,it took me ages to find out what the metal clips were that you can screw into!(Yes that was one of the search terms I used!)Found out they were called Spire clips. If anyone would like to send me pics of various things like this with names,I'll compile a list for future reference. ---------------------- | Thu 05 Apr 2012 @ 19:14 |

One that had me bamboozled for years - Thackery washer; a double turn spring washer for taking up end float on pins and shafts. ---------------------- | Thu 05 Apr 2012 @ 19:35 |

Having got down to one left, I thought Id redo mine last week. Bought new foam (19x10mm) from Woolies Trim, and a set of 6 of these: 270917636154 He might relist. Had to grind away a little of the 'lip' of the cab floor for the tongue of each one to fit, and ground away the rivets for the front 3 clips with a dremel. After a bit of persuasion with a Birmingham screwdriver, and using a bottle jack to push to cowl to shape, Ive got the thing fitted. What a difference it makes to engine noise! Good luck- you'll enjoy this job! ---------------------- | Thu 05 Apr 2012 @ 20:11 |
