Gas Burning Yellow

Hi there.

My van's (only recently purchased) gas burners on the hob are burning yellow and sooty. Is there a simple way of cleaning the jets or is it likely to be the regulator (looks pretty old).

Thanks loads

Aaron and Amelia

Usually caused by excess air or low pressure in the system. What shape/size is the regulator?. Not on the lotto winners list to buy and they can go wrong.

Thanks for that Bob. Just swapped over for a regulator I know works and doing the same thing. Also - I should have tried this before!!- but the grill burns fine, so that narrows it down to the two gas rings - they look pretty rusty - can I easily get replacements?

Many thanks

If you take the unit out you can remove the burners from the hob- give them a good soak in coke and fettle out the air vents and see if that does the trick- did on mine!

On further inspection, the base of the burners are badly corroded (full of holes), so I am assuming that this is the reason for the problem. I can't seem to remove them however as they are that bad. There appears to be something that unscrews at the very base which is in gods condition, but I can't seem to get any proper purchase on it. I am assuming it unscrews anti-clockwise?? Shall I hit it with a hammer and screwdriver?

Does anyone know where to look for replacement parts?

Many thanks again. I really don't know what I would do without this amazing forum and all the fabulous people on it!!

Best

Aaron
