Though there's nothing wrong with the di engine and I used one for four years (trouble free), well until the pump started leaking, LPG seems to be the cheaper option especially if you can get a head that runs on unleaded. I remember seeing a transplant that looked very interesting with a 2.3 Scorpio engine:- http://www.bedfordcf.co.uk/mboard/thread.php?id=8762 but can't see any follow up to this. It would be interesting to see how c20spit got on. I have feelers out for a modern Transit with rear end damage as it would seem you need to transplant not only engine/gearbox but also all the wiring associated with ECU's and immobilisers. Life is so complicated. Has anyone gone down the route of trigger ignition, after-market ECU and single point (or throttle bodies) on the CF engine? ---------------------- | Tue 14 Aug 2012 @ 21:36 |

Hello Nick, No it's not, it's an ESC which is very similar to the EDIS system; easily recognisible by it's red plastic front: unfortunately not shown in the photograph. The ESC was originally off a mk3 Fiesta, and is a self-contained mapped ignition system that won't work with a megajolt/megasquirt as opposed to the EDIS unit which requires megajolt/squirt to work properly . The EDIS system will work without megajolt/squirt but only on its limp home mode, which is stuck at 10 degrees. Hope this helps Nick. Hello Rae, Thanks for that info, I have looked this up online and as you say there is lots of information there. It does seem a lot simpler than the megasquirt/jolt systems as it doesn't involve fitting a load of other sensors. What I was hoping for was somebody having gone with a single point injection system, megasquirt/jolt ECU and trigger wheel ignition as I don't have the time to do the prototyping. There is a garage near me called Bogg Brothers and they do bike carb conversions onto all sorts of engines, A series, Vauxhall Red Tops and Rover V8's in conjunction with aftermarket ECU's so I might go and pick their brains!! ---------------------- | Fri 17 Aug 2012 @ 11:37 |

I tried numerous types of sound-proofing, even contemplated roof felt, the stuff you heat up with a torch before laying it down and I would still stand by that as a very cheap option of insulating the floor. The biggest gain in sound reduction was making sure there were no holes and the cover fitted properly. All these things put together made the van useable for long trips.
