Hello Jim,
First of all, well done. I hope it all pays off for you. I don't believe for one minute that you'll be disappointed. Did you make the adaptor plate yourself and, if so, what thickness is it? I reckoned it to be three quarters of an inch thick.

Nice one Jim, I hope you got the prop-shaft balanced after welding it, if its not balanced you will know about it when you drive it.

This brings to mind a very interesting question, over the years I have heard it mentioned many times that you can balance a propshaft by using a jubilee clip and moving it round until the vibration disappears. Now whether this is true or not I have no idea, perhaps some of you out there could shine some light on this. Is it fact or fiction?

Ford gearbox
Hi all, slight slip up,I forgot to alter the gear stick.First test will have to wait.My mrs's has got me shopping for the next few days,so ho hum be a good boy.Ialso have heard of the use of jubile clips.I think thats when the balance is not out to much. When the van is running I will jack the rear off the ground andrun the back wheels slowly And watch the prop for any imbalance.I will then add weight as needed.I will keep you informed as I go.Cheers+Beers,Jim.

Hello Jim,
That should make life a little easier: from what I'm lead to believe balancing doesn't seem to be so crucial with a two piece propshaft, especially if you've cut the short bit. Now whether this is true or not there's only one way of finding out so with a bit of luck you might be lucky.

Hello Jim,
I feel sure there will be one or two people that will be very interested in seeing a diagram or a photograph of the finished plate. Is there any chance that maybe this could be arranged

Hello Jim,
When I had the one in my old van I had a five inch extension on it which made life a lot easier. Have you got a single passenger seat or a double?

Gearstick
Hi Rae,their is an extention on the stick of about five inches,as you say it does help.I have two single seats from a Volvo, that I fitted as the bucket seats were completly nacard. The hole for the stick in the floor had to be moved to the back of the plate.Cheers,Jim.

Hello Jim,
Seats make a big difference. I used to have Saab 900 ones in my last van, this one has Wolfrace captain chairs....that swivel. Having said that, hardly ever turn them round so I don't know if I would recommend swivel chairs. When I get round to putting my Pinto engine and box in I'm hoping to set the gearbox up first and use the existing hole for the gear lever but that's a long way off.

Hi guys,
Surely a five inch extension would be enough to satisfy anyone?
