Loose gear lever.

'Lo chaps.

I've noticed that my gear lever moves back and forth quite a bit when in gear.

It's not loose in any other way, ok side to side, and I can't lift it straight up.

Is there some kind of lock ring at the base of the stick, or is it likely to be internally worn?

Cheers.

Not sure which box you've got, these are from the tech manual.

The general consensus of opinion seems to be a bunjee! 8808

Thanks for the diagrams.
Not sure which 'box I have, it's a 2.3 petrol engine in a '79 'van.

The gearstick isn't rattling, it just has lots of fore and aft movement in gear.

Not at the bungee stage yet!

Hi Tony,it sounds like the pivot in the linkage are worn. These can be replaced by any good machine shop.It may cost up to £80 but it's worth doing.I( hope this helps.Cheers+Beers,Jim.
