Went on a jolly.

Hi to all,

We went off on a little jolly today, at the wife's request and she hate's the campervan, but if she is not sleeping in it seems ok.
Just a nice easy run through some country roads as a round trip of about sixty five miles, since I had just changed the dash over for a revamped one it was a good chance to see if everything was working.

Cam-box leak.

Hi to all,

After our little jolly I decided to cure a small oil drip from the back of the cam-box cover and fit a new gasket using a very good non setting sealant to hold the gasket in place.
Hopefully this has done the job, no great oil loss but a mess I could do without, plus a quick run through a list of checks I do before each rally and the next one is on the 26th of June at Moffat.
So another chance to pick up a few more spare parts, got a good deal on an near new alternator at Thirlestane for twenty five pounds so who knows!

Cured oil leak.

Hi to all,

My oil leak is cured but with the help from a sealer used to seal the edges of wet-wall, this is a non setting sealer for use in wet-rooms and showers.
I had some left from a job in the house and thought I would give it a try since the cam-box cover on the slant engine is very prone to the cork gasket leaking, at which point you get that lovely smell of oil burning on the hot exhaust manifold.
Just a smear along the edge of the cam-box and the inner edge of the cover then press the gasket into the lid making sure all the holes and locating lugs line up then gently place it onto the cam-box, do not over tighten the studs and nuts.
