The season begins.

Hi to all,

In three and a half weeks time I mean to be back on the road for the season, if I am lucky enough to get through another MOT test!
I will tax the Bedford for the full year and cash in the tax when I am ready to come off the road for the winter, unless they start being more helpful and introduce a nine month road tax period.

direct debit.

Hi lord13,

To do the road tax by direct debit I would need a bank account and I don't use banks, might rob one but that would be the only reason I would have to go inside one!
I just claim back the months not used when I put the Bedford off the road.

Overdrive box.

Hi Mike,

No the overdrive box is still waiting in the shed/workshop, between timing belts and misfires on family cars plus the help I am giving on the Land-cruiser out at the farm and other work still due to come my way I have not had time.
My other half is now waiting on test results for an illness as yet unexplained so lots of trips to doctors and clinic's.
I also have a pour guy down in Uphall who has been waiting for me to replace a gearbox for him since November, so things are running away behind time.

Road tax.

Hi Mike,

Is it ok if I nip across to the Isle of Man stay the night and tax my Bedford next day then get the ferry back to the mainland?
And if not are you likely to get picked up on the ANPR system over here for not having paid the correct tax duty?
Just a thought!

Doug its not uncommon for people in the UK to have vehicles registered here, the road tax is actually higher for modern vehicles these days but with so called 'classic vehicles' we do seem to have an advantage.

I would be happy to privately talk to you about the pro's and con's if you feel this might be something for you.
