new owner
hi all i am a new very happy owner of a cf glendale 1977 model,i would like to know could i replace the manualy operated windows with electric motors of another vehicle and also i would like to replace the original frnt seats with more modern high back ones does anybody know what the best non bedford vehicle would be ideal for the parts before i start to modify the cab any advice would be helpfull i do have all parts but their of a renault espace prob would fit with a little bit of wrk anybody got pics or plans if they have done the same would be awesome thanks for reading.....nick

Hi and welcome to Bedford madness nick allen,
As you have already said anything can be made to fit, it depends what you want from the van, but I would try to stay with Bedford suff as much as possable.
Through this club you will be able to pick up a lot of spares as well as advise on what fits best, at decent prices.
There are quite a lot of good old Bedford guy's down in your nick of the woods so start on a local scan using this site.

Hello Nick - welcome to the site. As Doug says, anything can be made to fit.
I know that some of the custom vanners have added electric windows to their vans by installing a motor to drive the CF window winder mechanism. Check out the 'Custom Vans' section of the site.
As to seating, many of us have non-standard seats in our vans. I remember my Dad's old Espace having seats which rotated through 180 degrees. They were mounted on a central pillar, so if you go down that route, make sure you reinforce the area where the seats are fitted. Going through the windscreen whilst still being attached to the seat sounds rather painful!

Hi Nick
Welcome to this amazing club! We are relatively new owners too and have had tremendous help from here. We also want to change our seats but not sure which ones to get, the biggest problem is that as I am disabled I need a seat I can recline somewhat in the passenger side. So Ill be interested in what you decide to do! We are also looking for local meets to get to know people here. Hope you enjoy the site as much as I do.

Hi Nick. The seats I had to use, none came with our CF, were out of an early Renault Clio, which of course have head restraints and reclining adjustment. The width of these seats was almost spot on to fit the seat base boxes, which did come with the van, but I had to make frames to fit the seats to the adjusting slides out of handy-angle. Not exactly pretty, but functional and a better seat height was achieved by doing this. The visible parts of the frames I then sprayed in matt black. Hi Nick and welcome, Can I respectfully ask you to consider keeping whatever you take out for a while and letting people konow they may be available before throwing unused stuff out, as I'm always keen to see our parts recycled in poss as they are quite rare sometimes. How we get to see you at some of the future meets.

Can I just back Waynjac up on this point of keeping Bedford parts removed and not wanted please???
This is a very important point - if you do remove any original Bedford parts like seats, trim etc. and have no where (or no desire) to hang on to them, please dont just bin them. PLease either offer them for sale on here or contact one of us to ask about donating them to Club Spares.
We can usually collect the parts and store them....
Someone may very well require just the part you are about to throw away!!!!
PLease - do enjoy you Beddy experience - this is a brilliant Club with many knowledgable and enthusiastic members...;]
