Ullo Dogcamper from a fellow southerner. I'm actually down in Brighton/Hove so 60 odd miles from you, and also new to the Bedford CF2 scene so not really of much help. ABC in Leeds is Adrian Bailey Classics... took me a while to figure that one out.

I think the only real option for exhausts is to have a new one made. At least, that's what I've been told, as there are no unused surplus stock ones about and second hand ones are going to be almost as decrepit as the one on your van.

There's a place in Hove called Powerflow that can make up a stainless steel one that will last longer than the van, but I don't know the price yet as my exhaust is holding out alright so I haven't had it costed up.

No doubt there'll be an exhaust fabricator near you who can do it. I think the price for this will be a little bit eye watering, but it will be the one and only time you ever need to replace your exhaust!

Yeah I saw he has some sections earlier this evening funnily enough, but not a full through exhaust. When mine goes (sometime this winter I expect) , it will be the whole thing. Its pretty fragile as it is, so I'll probably just get a complete new one made and fitted and then console myself that it wont be anything I need to think about again for a very long time.

Saw how much the exhaust manifold was for my engine when checking ABC earlier *WINCE* I hope my manifold never needs replacing!!

Would be good to know who needs what really. If there were, say, ten 2.0litre Opel petrol CF2s for example, then it would probably make greater economic sense to have them all made up together as they work off one as a blueprint to create new ones.

Dunno. Just a thought. I know nothing.

Greg,
I've been wondering what the score is with shorter side exhausts as I'd quite like to go that way with mine too. Is it all perfectly acceptable MOT and legality wise?

Did you have you exhaust made up like that, or is there a way to do this sort of thing using the parts from a full length exhaust?

That actually doesn't sound too bad a price.

1. Is that everything one would need to create a side exit pipe?

2. Is it okay to have the exit on the passenger side, or does it need to be on the driver's side?

3. How easy or hard is it to make and fix mounting brackets to hold it?

Any info greatly received Mr Advantura!

Hi Mike welcome to the world of CF's. We had a spare tank, with sender unit, that you can have for free if it still available.
We say if, because we had nowhere to store it and it was collected by Matty071 to be stored and I don't know if he still has it or if another member has already made use of it.
Drop him a P/M and if it's still there you are more than welcome to it.
Cheers Derek & Lyn

In answer to Q2, yes, its fine on the passsenger side

Q3: mounting brackets are simple. The rubber mounts are easy to aquire and the metal hangers are simple to fabricate.

Good luck!
