Gas leaks.

Hi to all,

We thought we could smell gas in our front porch some weeks ago but dismissed as being dampness from all the snow and frost, but today we get a stronger smell.
So to be safe we called the scottish gas to have it checked, and now half the street is cut off, they found two underground leaks outside my back door and one inside the house next door.
Now they are saying they will have to repiped along the street from the mains because the old steel pipes have rotted into pin holes.
So in this street I am not a every popular guy, twentyfour hours without any heating or cooking, I think I might have to move!
The cause they are giving us is old steel pipes very rusty plus 15 inches of winter frost.

Doug.

Know where you're coming from Doug, our little escapade started on the 4th Feb and, hopefully, it's going to be resolved on the 17th and that began as a routine service.
routine service = broken fire brick = fire being condemned & turned off = turn radiator on in front room = a leaky radiator = turn off, no heat in front room = fire brick replaced, fire back on. Now waiting for radiator and radiator to be fitted.
I hope you have better luck than I did Doug.
