I think I must have gone through it much earlier than you. I bought a Camero when I was 20 (hmmm.....very nearly 30 years ago  ). It was just a basic Camero, 1977 250cu straight 6 with 3 speed manual in metalic blue. I was a single man back then and could afford to run it along with my 1.6s Talbot Sunbeam. Ah, they were the days 
BTW, it looks like I'll be working down your way (Shoreham power station) for 2 weeks starting 23 Jan. If you are not carefull I might just invade to see this new toy of your

Ann, lovely... I have coveted many a Prefect or Anglia on ebay and pondered hitting the bid button. My other half wont let me though because I have the van and we also have the family runaround. Triumph Herald Pick-Up 1965 This unique vehicle has been owned and lovingly maintained by ourselves for the last 15 years. Its a lot of fun & very fast. The full specification is too detailed to list here but highlights include: Rear hinged bonnet Fast-road performance-built 2.5L TR6 engine Overcored radiator & SuperSlim fan Autobox Sports recliner seats, Quartic wheel Modified & uprated suspension Stainless exhaust Matching load bay tonneau (not in photo) As well as the obvious body modifications, more subtle enhancements include spoiler, cold air damn etc. Correctly registered with DVLA as 2.5L pick up. Tax exempt. MoT to July 2011 £3700 On the plus side its 'fun and very fast' on the down side I do love my van and a van is a damn site more useful than a saloon car masquerading as a pick up. They've never met my van but they were interested in a PX. I've never been a huge fan of Vitesse's, but the straight six road-racer in this one makes me want it BADLY. ---------------------- |

The engine looks looks a standard 2.5 rather than a TR6 though TR6 where fuel-injected and had manual 4 speed with overdrive.Never autos. Why would someone fit an auto any power conversions Looking at the carb set up its not got the best breathing and they look like 1.1/2 or 1.3/4 rather that 2.1/2 to give it the claimed power. Still running dynamo which was again not standard on the TR6. The finish in the engine bay is pretty low standard making me wonder what the rest of the work is like. Poor water work piping and even poorer rad top mountings It should be fitted with an electric fan for cooling No mention of any 6/3/2/1 exhaust manifold which should be a good mod for more power The Lucas PI system can be converted to run on unleaded but its an expensive mod. See that he's not mentioned any rear suspension mods Minimum mods would to fit the TR6 rear set up in place of that trans-leafed cart spring rear end. What would have been nice is that the boot would hinged down to make loading easier ---------------------- |

Brilliant! Well I should now have the car next week provided the money makes my bank account monday or tuesday! I don't need to pick cars to sell either! I had managed to pay off more of a loan I had than I thought I had, so just topped it up instead. Means Im in debt a bit longer but hey! If you cant enjoy it while your here what fun is there?Colin let me know when you are about and Ill put the kettle on. I can mostly choose my own work hours so can be about anytime within reason! I love every one elses cars! I do like something a little bit different! This will be the first time Ive had a V8 though. Its 305 cubic inches (5 litre I think) automatic. I have been dying for an automatic again since my Marina died last year. With that and the Bedford I think Ill be needing shares in BP but they should do about the same to the gallon. When she arrives I will post some pictures. |

Well she has been delivered and other than a battery that wouldnt hold its charge so far she has been a good girl. Pleased
I even got a tank of fuel in her! Tax was a surprise as I thought it would be dearer, it was £215. Anyway having something else interesting to drive at weekends should mean that I can get on with a bit of rust treatment on the CF! (due mainly to wanting to keep some money in my bank account and not in a petrol tank!) So she will get a run once a week if that! |
