Hi Yes, if you take a look at This Thread and you'll find the link to the VIN checker. ---------------------- | Wed 10 Apr 2013 @ 11:17 |

L.O. Colin. Thanks for the link to the decoder. I wanted to check on a van I am looking to buy which is '73 reg. There's always a chance it could have been built in '72 or even January '73. I believe 31st Jan. '73 is the cut-off date. Unfortunately the decoder does not give the month. It just says 1973. Do you of any way to pin it down to the month? Thanks, Pete. | Thu 18 Apr 2013 @ 17:40 |

As I understand it, as from April 2014 the VED exemption will be up to 31st December, 1973. Martin | Thu 18 Apr 2013 @ 21:13 |

Hi Pete I don't know of a way of getting the actual month of manufacture. I assume it would be possible going by the chassis number part of the VIN but I've no access to those records ---------------------- | Sun 21 Apr 2013 @ 12:22 |

Thanks Colin. Thanks also Leatherwalnut. I hadn't realised that the exemption was to be extended ! Means my original question will soon be redundant. | Mon 22 Apr 2013 @ 19:54 |

A follow up on this. Contact the Vauxhall Heritage Centre. If you provide them with photos of the engine number vin plate etc they'll send a dating certificate showing exactly which month it was made. Don't forget that if it's an original conversion there's likely to be a few months before it actually got registered and it's the manufacture date that counts. See http://media.vauxhall.co.uk/media/gb/en/vauxhall/heritage.html I spoke the gent at the bottom Andrew Boddy and he was extremely helpful. I have posted about this before but I can't find it. I'll ask the mods if some of the message board has been deleted or archived. | Tue 30 Apr 2013 @ 08:56 |
