Advice on windscreen wiper/washer stalk. Took our CF facelight autosleeper for it's MOT yesterday, and it passed without advisory! Not bad, given that it's spent most of the past 3 years sat in a field! However, I've still got a little bit of a problem. The stalk for the windscreen wiper was broken,or rather, the little grey rocker type switch thing that it sits in was broken. The garage took the fairly draconian step of incorporating a seperate rocker switch to power the screen wash (why they couldn't just use the existing 'end of stalk' thing I don't know), and used what looked like a sort of plasticy solder to re-attach the stalk to the original grey, rocker type thing. Couple of issues with this, though. The solder type stuff looks as if it's starting to split already. Does anybody know where I can get a replace rocker, or has any ideas about how to repair the existing one? I'm sort of thinking that some sort of cable-tie or jubilee clips wound tighly round would hold it securely in place, but I'd be grateful for any better ideas! Secondly, the windscreen wipers and the screen wash don't always work. It appears to be down to a loose connection behind the fuse box, leading into the washer fuse. Given that I'm a complete electrical novice, how easy is it to repair this sort of thing? Does it need soldering, or can you use joining blocks or similar? Also, can anyone recommend any covers for their Beddy? As mentioned, we store it in a field, and I'd rather our ageing beauty wasn't subjected to the full force of the elements! Thanks. Forgot to add (in relation to the cover) - it's the monocoque autosleeper one. Actually, does anybody know what this variant is called? It looks identical to the SV100, at least externally. The inside has the kitchen at the back, with the eating area seats against the side of the van (i.e. you face across the van when you eat!) Cheers. Stu. | Tue 09 Jul 2013 @ 14:23 |

Hi Gethin, It's a strange one. Previously, the washer button was on the end of the wiper stalk, and you sort of pumped it to operate the skoosher. The garage have replaced this with a small rocker switch that they've placed in the small gap between the bottom of the wiper stalk and the steering column. One consequence of this is that it's possible to leave the skoosher on permanently! | Wed 10 Jul 2013 @ 00:02 |

If it would help to have a new stalk, I will soon be breaking my CF2, and I don't need the wiper stalks. I would prefer the bits go to good use rather than the scrappy. | Wed 10 Jul 2013 @ 12:25 |

Thanks Philbut, but it's not really the stalks that I need, more the bit that the stalks plug into, but it seems to be working for the time being so I wouldn't want to put you out too much. I'll investigate the switch that Gething was kind enough to point me in the direction of. | Wed 10 Jul 2013 @ 18:20 |
