Benefit of CF2 250P axle over CF1 (1976) 230 axle This is mainly one for Gethin I think but others please feel free to chip in too!I have a CF2 axle with 160k miles on it. I have the option of using this on my CF1 after doing my Manta engine conversion. Front end will be from the CF2 anyway, so I can up mu GVW from 2.2T to 2.5T by using the rear springs from the CF2. I believe the CF2 rear axle is a 9/37 ratio, where as the CF1 is 8/37. I would like a higher ratio to drop the revs on the motorway with the more powerful engine, so favor the CF2 axle. I would fit new bearings / seals etc prior to fitting it, but should I be wary of an axle with so many miles on? It drove fine for the 6 months I was using the van Can you think of any other reason why i should / shouldn't swap them over? van will mostly be used for motorway, lightly loaded and occasional light towing. so long as both axles are the same (ie bedford or salisbury .) then yes the swap if good. again same goes for springs as long as they are the same length and have the same hangers then its also good. | Thu 19 Sep 2013 @ 19:13 |

Cheers Gethin And you'd not be concerned about the high mileage on the CF2 axle? | Thu 19 Sep 2013 @ 20:53 |

If the axle is not noisy then a oil change will be ok. | Fri 20 Sep 2013 @ 08:55 |
