CF windscreens Dear Bedford forum folk... I'm fairly new to the Bedford world please forgive me if this may seem a novice question...Can someone please confirm if it is the same windscreen across all CF & CF2 models? I'm currently in Spain - I will post my story of a 6 month roadtrip across Europe in my super CF once I'm back home... But basically I had a total windscreen implosion whilst on motorway yesterday. I have found a uk supplier who is willing to pack in a crate and ship out to me but I really wanted to double, triple & quadruple check that it is indeed the same windscreen that fits all CF models? Hopefully someone can help out with this question.. Many thanks, Glenn | Thu 24 Jul 2014 @ 21:20 |

Would that suggest that they are different screens or just that it's a bigger screen rubber for CF2?! All windscreen sites that I have found just have one screen list for CF from '69-87 suggesting it is the same windscreen... | Fri 25 Jul 2014 @ 10:06 |

unless some one has the 2 different windscreens available for measurement then id say go with what's available , but id be asking for assurance that if the windscreen will not fit properly that you get all your money back.. oh dont cut the rubber either unless you have a good second hand one just in case, | Fri 25 Jul 2014 @ 22:55 |

I've been reliably informed by VGC (they have 6 new screens on their shelf currently) that "The CF2 was a facelift and the windscreen rubber went from a filler type, to a solid rubber. Nothing changed with the glass though." VGC very helpful and on the ball. Packaged in a crate for no extra cost and even arranged shipping to me in Spain. I'll confirm 100% here when it arrives and is fitted... Hopefully wil help someone else in the future... | Sat 26 Jul 2014 @ 10:13 |

Glenn Dearing wrote: I've been reliably informed by VGC ... When you said you'd found a supplier who'd ship out to Spain,my first thought was Adrian Bailey. As a matter of interest, how much did they charge for shipping? I see from their website that the screen was £125. I know it's a bit late but I have two screens in my personal collection & there is one in Dorset that was bought for the club.(Although the chap's not a member anymore.) I probably wouldn't have been able to get one to you in time though. Going back to VGC,I love their dropdown search. The year list goes right back to 1 AD! So if you want to fit a screen to your Roman chariot........ ---------------------- | Sat 26 Jul 2014 @ 11:29 |

Handy! Charged £250 + vat to ship. Insurance company very happy as was still cheaper than Autogkass all in and without a 10 day wait (& hotel) as quoted by the wonderful folk at Autoglass! | Sat 26 Jul 2014 @ 13:51 |

Back in the 70's there were emergency windscreens that every "sensible driver" carried.I had one in my camper but passed it on when I sold it. Found one on greedbay 181469789182 Actually there're quite a few.Might be handy for members to buy, just in case. ---------------------- | Sat 26 Jul 2014 @ 15:25 |

Would have been very handy! One can never be too prepared... Unfortunately it wasn't top of my list of priorities when packing the van up to head around Europe for 6 months! Next time it'll be the first thing on the list!... | Sat 26 Jul 2014 @ 17:09 |

No good to you Glenn. Emergency windscreens are very limited to speed, don`t work with wipers very well (that means when it`s raining) and are quite draughty. Probably the reason why they are not well known, or popular. Basically they are just thick clear plastic supported by steel rods. They also are `universal` which means it fits nothing, and are kept in place by the doors closing on them. They`ll get you home in a pinch, but not from Spain!!!. ---------------------- | Mon 28 Jul 2014 @ 22:22 |

Hello all - first I just wanted to say I can't tell you how grateful i am that this post existed! I got a chip on the drivers side that is apparently too big to legally be repaired so I panicked when the insurers said I'd have to source a replacement myself. Anyhow, I've now been talking to VGC and they're on the case but I'd imagine it's not gonna be that easy to find. If any of you have a mk1 28" windscreen for a 1979 Wadham Stringer Ambulance in your 'personal collections' please give me a shout | Tue 29 Jul 2014 @ 19:06 |

the 28" wadham stringer windscreen is a special sized windscreen and you will probably need to get 1 done as a special order , am other alternative is to find a wadham stringer ambulance thats been scraped and get it of that. http://www.southambpres.org.uk https://www.facebook.com/WadhamStringerCoachbuilders | Tue 29 Jul 2014 @ 22:10 |
