Annoying copper pipe Today I changed my alternator and radiator. Once they were in I was flushing through my radiator with some 2 step stuff from halfords and whilst I was running the engine on a fast idle a copper ruptured and started p****ing out automatic gearbox fluid everywhere. It's one of the two pipes that seems to circulate the gearbox fluid through the bottom of the radiator using 3/8 copper pipe with a threaded union at the gearbox end, and a double flange at the other for a piece of hose to connect to the radiator. There seems to be no info on these pipes in my Haynes manual, and I'm not sure of there correct names/dimensions yet, I was hoping someone could tell me where I could get replacements, or if I'd have to make them from scratch. Thanks, Nick | Wed 27 Aug 2014 @ 23:15 |

I'd guess that being copper they were put on by a previous owner. The original fittings are rubber hoses with a banjo union. This is what was fitted to mine. You should be able to get hoses from most local motor factors. There's a gsf branch near you in Tottenham. Extract from the manual; "On early models an oil cooler of U-tube type is mounted horizontally in front of the cooling system radiator. Conventional taper seat hydraulic couplings connect hoses between the oil cooler & transmission pipes. On later models with detachable front panel & CF2 models the oil cooler is combined with the radiator bottom tank. Hoses from the transmission pipes are connected to the radiator using banjo type unions with sealing washers each side of each union." ---------------------- | Thu 28 Aug 2014 @ 04:14 |

if you dont tow with your Beddy then you can bypass the oil cooler system with a rubber pipe joining both pipe together ..... | Thu 28 Aug 2014 @ 21:28 |

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm not planning on towing so shouldn't be a problem,if it becomes a hassle I'll bypass it. Just out of interest. Does it matter that I've got a CF2 radiator with the combined chamber in the bottom tank? Also does it circulate in either direction through the radiator, does it matter which way is in/out?
