Miandering rebuild get kick up the behind ....

Turn's out I'm gonna be needing the van to live in for a few weeks when i go and work on the Isle of man soon . Only found that out a week after i stripped it down for painting ! .
Now i was committed , evenings and weekends etc .
Would have been less work had it all been one colour . It meant masking up twice.
But its been waiting 11 years for a new coat of paint and i wanted it original. I like the colour too .

Its now MOT'ed and taxed and been used for a week back and forth to work . about 30 miles . I dont need to use it as i have a small van but i wanted to make sure everything was working and reliable .

Well i had some issues ,,,,,always been flat on hills and due to having a bedford petrol dif and an LDV 2.5 diesel engine , it would never quite pull top gear . Also smelled of unburnt diesel a bit and hazy wifs of blue smoke at idle.

So did the tappets . changed the fuel filter block and put in new filters and oil . Took out the injectors and sent them off for testing . Was told they were not too bad and could probably go back in .

I disagreed and ordered 4 new injector's . I could'nt ask for more . The smoke and smell have gone and it will now pull top gear through the rev range .
So now it goes ok and looks ok . And its only taken 13 year's !!!! we were using it every year during that time though so everything on "the list " got put off till next year ..

Still have to do .
The window beading .
The skylights .
The door cards .
The whole interior .
Wire the leasure battery .
Change the fridge .
Wire the inside lights .
Fit the oven back in .
Buy a water tank and find somewhere to put it .

So as always with Berty , The nearer you think you are the more stuff will find its way onto the list .....

Hi to all,

I have had my old Bedford for six years and I am still writing list of what needs to be done, I don't think that ever stops but your van is looking great get out there and make use of it.
