Windows for coach build CF's
Our CF Advantura always had a cracked rear window since we had it and I previously repaired it by riveting a section from another window into it. However over the years the small section twisted and the window cracked in more places. At the end of our holiday trip to France this year I decided to invest into a new window to keep Betsey in good shape.
I was expecting something around the £300 - £350 mark. Then I got a quote from a proper caravan window company and nearly fell over when I got the price.
£570 all in. Yes it's a bloody big window measuring nearly 1.6m wide but that I couldn't face.
So I started looking for alternatives from caravans etc and luckily found a complete CF Advantura on ebay, which had been sitting in a field for years after the previous owner started to do some major work to it. And the best thing, it was only 45 miles from ours.
We took a bit of a gamble as the pictures of the rear window weren't great, but I thought there'd be other parts we can use if not.
After a couple of days we won the auction for £231, I hired a trailer for the day for £54 and used about £15 in fuel to collect it. So for £300 we got a good used window and loads of other bits to help keep our CF in tip top shape.
And although the donor CF doesn't look too bad in the pictures, it has so much water damage that most of the timber work behind the outer ally skins at the back and rear sides is totally rotten. I will carefully cut the body off and keep the whole side panels intact as a wall art for the workshop
