I know it's a 'little bit' out of the way but I found a lovely site on the north west corner of Scotland. Right next to the beach. About 5 odd miles north of Lochinver but would anyone be interested? Can't remember what the site was called at the moment but I'll look into it. ---------------------- | Mon 04 Sep 2006 @ 18:10 |

Thanks Ed Hi John No suggestions for the moment except....Could you move Portsmouth closer to South of France...Just a bit... Besides, New Forest is convenient for me. There is a ferry to Normandy very near. At least I won't have to do a long way in England before joining the meeting. Even in France it's a shorter way as well. Cheers ---------------------- | Wed 06 Sep 2006 @ 21:21 |

I am not bothered whether we have a mixed site or just us a lot depends on support tho i would think. if there is just a few of us the site owner will not be happy about letting us have an area to ourselves. barbie is great idea but it will take some doing to beat Cyril's and Sylvia's tho. a bonfire would be nice if anyone could be persuaded to let us [carefully tended with pro fireman [Michelle seems to know a lot of them ]present [absolute bull but I know where I can borrow a uniform and a bucket of water]. don't forget to include meet tent in calculations. or a gazebo or something. i will hopefully have my trailer tent on so we can use that or our big 9 man [or both if we have enough support] we used at Wakefield [windproof - unlike gazebo - sorry geth] traditionally we have a barbie and sit around chat on the sat night and i can use my barbie as heater or cooker. it was going almost constantly and we still have a load of charcoal [donated at wakefield] to use up. at wakefield we had a trip out to a car boot at carrog it was a steam train ride [Kirsty stuck her head out the window and got a black face ] what can we organise for the forest? [rodeo with the wild ponies ] over to you and the other members... ---------------------- | Wed 06 Sep 2006 @ 21:55 |

Roi, Being currently in service with Hampshire Fire & Rescue service and knowing a lot of the forestry commision sites I can say that a Bonfire would not be allowed. I have used a private site just outside lymington called Hirst View that has 2 enormous fields that are mainly used for rallies....maybe this is worth checking out (although its a bit more expensive than the forestry sites. Holmsley I know execepts rallies and will designate a separate area for them. If you all let me know yr views i can make a few calls Stay safe Sean;) ---------------------- | Thu 07 Sep 2006 @ 07:37 |

John, Sean et al We're away at the moment and not back for another 10 days or so, so internet access is limited, just to say if anyone is coming any distance and wants a stop off/overnight/coffee etc to the east of the forest before doing the last few hours of the run, we're happy to help. Just to say it's a great idea and do let us know what we can do to help ---------------------- | Sat 09 Sep 2006 @ 06:31 |
